SOLONEION BOOK CENTRE

Soloneion Book Centre moved to its present location in July 1995. It now operates on three levels of which two are accesible to the general public and covers a floor area of approximately 1000 sq meters.

Its history goes back to 1939 when Sofia and Christodoulos Papadopoulos started the business in Ledra street under the name "Minerva". In 1969 they moved location from the centre of Nicosia to what was then considered to be the outskirts of the city. They then changed the name to Bridgehouse Bookshop to coinside with the name of the building they moved into.

The next important date in the Bookshop's history was 1973. That was when the store was bought by Solon and Androulla Papachristodoulou. Initially it barely covered a floor area of 60 square meters but gradually with hard work this floor space reached 400 square meters. The nature of the book business however is such that space is never enough.

This was the main reason that prompted the management to opt for the choice of moving to the present location.

Soloneion Book Centre as its now known tries to provide the best service possible using the latest technological methods available for both searching and ordering of books. The staff have at their disposal three major CD-ROMs covering the British, American and Greek books in print.

Both management and staff will always be at your disposal for the best possible service.
